Blogiversary: Rouge and Whimsy

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Tuesday and our second feature of my wonderful one year blogiversary. Ready set go!

Erika Riggs of rouge and whimsy is here today. Let's learn a bit more about her, shall we.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am a twenty-something redhead located in Seattle, Washington. I live with my husband and Welsh Corgi puppy in an old house. When I’m not at my day job, I’m blogging, making fun accessories and updating the casa. I love Mexican food, being outdoors, and handmade goods. 2. What got you started with your craft
I started making headbands for gifts and got a lot of compliments. I’d been wanting to go into the handmade business, but I thought it would be with pillows or home décor.

3. What inspires you

Bright colors, other crafters, the 1920s, my mother

4. Is your craft full-time or part-time

Part-time with a dream to be full-time!

5. What do you love most about your crafts?

How fun they are! I love the pairing of fabric flowers with feathers. I love making them and coming up with new designs—I constantly have new ideas but not enough time!

6. When did you start crafting

I think I came out of the womb crafting… but honestly, I’ve always loved creating things whether it was a cardboard Beanie Baby house, sewing clothes for my stuffed animals, repainting vintage furniture… I’ve been dabbling in handmade for as long as I can remember.

7. If you’re not crafting what else are you doing?

At work! Or at home with my husband—we’re probably walking the dog or attempting to wear him out. (He has a TON of energy.) We love to go to happy hour with friends and explore our neighborhood.

8. Why do you craft

This is hard to answer. I think it’s just something that I’ve always loved and appreciated. It’s just a way to express myself and my creativity.

9. Coffee or tea

Coffee! (I live in Seattle so this is a duh)

10. Favorite color and why

Yellow because it’s fun and cheerful and perfect for a gray place like Seattle ;)
